WHO WE ARE
Bridge Connect Africa Initiative (BCAI) is a systems-focused development organization working to expand opportunity, strengthen agency, and build resilience for young people, adolescent girls, and women across Africa.
We work at the intersection of education, gender equality, youth development, health, and environmental sustainability to strengthen the systems that determine whether people can access opportunities, make informed choices, and participate in the decisions that shape their lives.
Founded in 2017, BCAI is headquartered in Nigeria. We operate across Nigeria in partnership with communities, development partners, civil society, governments and the private sector.
We build bridges between people, communities, and institutions, strengthening the conditions that enable individuals and societies to thrive.
What begins as one missed opportunity often becomes many.
A girl who is unable to continue her education may also lose access to the information and healthcare that protect her future. A young person excluded from opportunities to learn and participate may find that economic independence grows further out of reach. A woman whose choices are constrained by social norms often faces the same systems that limit her voice, her security, and her ability to influence the decisions that shape her life.
These are not separate challenges. They are the compounding effects of systems that fail to connect people to the opportunities, institutions, and protections they need to thrive. We exist to build those connections.
Our Vision
A world where girls, women and young people are empowered to live dignified lives.
Our Mission
Our Mission is to co-create innovative solutions with communities to expand access, strengthen agency and enable participation.
OUR VALUES
These values shape how we design programmes, work with partners, make decisions, and engage the communities we serve.
Connected Systems
We look at how different parts of a system affect people’s lives and design programmes with those connections in mind.
Collaborative Leadership
We work with communities, governments and partners as part of the solution, creating space for people to shape the work and take ownership of it.
Inclusive Participation
We make space for the people closest to a problem to inform the decisions and solutions that affect them.
Resilient Futures
We consider what people, communities and institutions need to carry the work forward beyond a project.
Pan African Impact
We are rooted in Nigeria and learn from experiences across Africa, bringing local experience into wider conversations about change.
